Lunar Reflector
You are here to reflect the health of your community back to it. And the Moon will tell you everything you need to know — if you give it time.
Your Strategy: Wait a Lunar Cycle
Reflectors are the rarest type in Human Design — approximately 1% of the population. You carry a sampling aura — open to everything, amplifying what you encounter, and releasing it again. You are not designed to hold on. You are designed to flow.
Your strategy is to wait a full lunar cycle — approximately 28 to 29 days — before making major decisions. This is not a suggestion. It is a mechanical requirement.
The Moon moves through all 64 gates of the Human Design wheel in a lunar cycle, activating each gate as it passes. For Reflectors, who have no defined centers, this lunar transit creates a constantly shifting internal landscape. Who you are today is genuinely different from who you were two weeks ago — not because you're inconsistent, but because you are designed to live in that sacred fluidity.
A decision made on one day, when the Moon is activating one configuration, may feel completely different three days later. This is not confusion. This is design.
Your signature is surprise — childlike wonder, delight, and awe at the beauty and variety of life. When you feel genuine surprise and wonder, you are living correctly. When you feel persistent disappointment, something in your environment or a recent decision is out of alignment.
Your Authority: Lunar (No Inner Authority)
Reflectors always have Lunar Authority — it is the only authority possible for this type. Having no defined centers is precisely what makes someone a Reflector. There is no inner motor, no fixed awareness center, no consistent energy source that can serve as an internal authority. The Moon is your authority. The full 28-day cycle is your decision-making container.
Lunar Authority is an outer authority. Clarity doesn't live inside you in a fixed place. It assembles itself across time, as the Moon transits the wheel and activates different energies within your open centers.
On some days you will feel certain. On other days that same decision will feel entirely different. Both are true — but neither alone is your answer.
The practice is daily check-ins across the full cycle. How does this decision feel today, with the Moon where it is? Come back tomorrow. Come back in a week. Come back at the three-quarter point. At the end of the cycle, you will have a complete picture — a felt sense of how you relate to this decision across the full range of lunar influence. That comprehensive picture is your authority.
Soundboarding is part of this authority too. Speaking with different people across the cycle — not for advice, but to hear your own voice reflect differently in different fields — helps illuminate facets of your knowing. Choose your soundboard people carefully. Reflectors are exquisitely sensitive to the quality of the fields they're in.
What to feel for:
YES: Consistent pull or clarity that holds across multiple points in the lunar cycle
NO: Persistent heaviness or wrongness that reasserts itself across the cycle
Key: No single day's feeling is reliable — the picture requires the full 28-day arc
Strategy + Authority in Practice
This is the most spacious and the most radical authority in Human Design. In a world that rewards speed and decisiveness, the Reflector is designed for something entirely different: the wisdom of the full cycle, the knowing that can only come from living with a question across its complete arc.
The deepest challenge is the pressure to decide before the cycle is complete. Partners, colleagues, and circumstance will push for an answer. Opportunities will seem to have expiration dates. The practice is learning to communicate your process — "I need about a month to feel into this fully" — and trusting that the right opportunities will honor that timing.
Your open centers mean you are extraordinarily sensitive to the people and environments around you. This is not a vulnerability to fix. It is your gift. But it also means that the environment in which you make decisions matters enormously. Make major decisions after time spent in nourishing, healthy environments — not in the middle of overwhelm, crisis, or pressure.
In practice: when a significant decision arrives, begin your 28-day clock. Journal daily — even just a line or two — about how the decision feels today. Use different trusted people as soundboards across the cycle. At the end, gather your notes and feel the whole picture. The consistent thread across the arc is your answer.
Common conditioning patterns:
Making major decisions under time pressure before the cycle is complete
Feeling pressure to be consistent or to know who you are in a fixed way — fluidity is your design, not a disorder
Staying in environments, relationships, or systems that do not reflect health back to you — and feeling persistently disappointed as a result
Mistaking a single day's strong feeling for full clarity, especially when the Moon is activating a particularly charged configuration
Taking on other people's energy, emotions, or identities as your own — and not recognizing that what you're feeling may belong to the field around you
The Experiment:
Choose one current question and begin a 28-day lunar journal. Each day, write one to three sentences: What does this decision feel like today? Who am I today? At the end of the cycle, read back through the entries. Notice the patterns, the consistent threads, and the days when the quality of feeling was unusually high or low. The consistent thread is your authority speaking.
