Your type describes the nature of your aura — how your energy field interacts with the people and world around you. There are five energy types in Human Design: Generator, Manifesting Generator, Projector, Manifestor, and Reflector. Each one has a distinct energetic signature, a distinct strategy, and a distinct way of experiencing alignment versus resistance.

Your authority is your decision-making intelligence. Not your mind — your mind is not your authority in Human Design, regardless of your type. Authority is the inner signal that is consistently reliable for you — the part of your design that knows before your thoughts catch up. There are several authorities: Emotional, Sacral, Splenic, Ego, Self-Projected, Mental/Environmental, and Lunar. Which one you have depends on which energy centers are defined in your chart.

Together, type and authority form your personal operating instructions. Your type tells you how to engage. Your authority tells you when and whether. When you live both, decisions get clearer, energy stops leaking, and the patterns that have felt so stubborn start to loosen.
